A Book From My Childhood

I remember a long time ago reading a book in 3rd grade (could have been 4th or 5th) about Chincoteague and the wild ponies there. I loved horses as a little girl and I always wanted to go see the ponies there. Well, all these years when I went to Delaware to the car race, and to Assateague to drive around with my parents, I never realized I was within 30 miles of Chincoteague.

In 2022 I went with my sister on vacation to Harpers Ferry, WV to go backpacking and ended up going to Assateague for a couple days to stay in the campground in the state park. While researching how to get there I saw how close Chincoteague was and I was determined to finally get there.

I do not remember the name of the book, but the place never left my mind. Now about 50+ years later I finally made it. I made this cross body cell phone bag that I appliquéd some wild horses on to remember the book and the trip we made together. I followed the tutorial on “The Sewing Room Channel” on YouTube to make the bag.

My photos just show what I did, watch the video if you wanted to make the bag yourself to get a better idea of the steps  I made this bag for Project Quilting entry, bag measures 7 1/2” x 4 1/2” with three pockets

Fight or flight? More like comedy of errors.

Did not like this one, probably because I did not use a pattern. Oh well, nice 15” square hot pad. I used pieces of the spring colors on the back that I had leftover from the last one.

Used my seam ripper waaaaay too much on this one.
