Project Quilting 15.1 Bird House.

Ok, I slacked a lot last year. But I am ready to do some quilting.  Project Quilting put up the first challenge for 2024 so I dug into my scraps.

I like yellow and decided to do like a log cabin style birdhouse for this one.

Shaped like a birdhouse, I decided to appliqué it onto fabric that had an iron on stiffener on the back. I folded the edges over and pressed them so the raw edges didn’t show.

I found some batting scraps and sewed them together to make the birdhouse look a little quilted.

Cut out the shape of the batting.

Then quilted in the ditch and close to the edge.

Ironed on some little birdies with fusing.

Added the stiffener backing. Stitched down the edges of the front fabric.

Added some scrap binding for hangers and it’s complete. Measures 21” x 17”. So easy to make. Think I’ll give this to my mom for her birthday to hang in her room at the memory care facility where she is cared for.  The little birdies look so small next to the Big House. .
